This year marks the 33rd anniversary of Tetris and thanks to the game’s simplicity and universal appeal, it continues to capture the attention of a new audience. Our children. In fact, I first got into Tetris when I was younger, and it helped me calm down and focus better in school!
Tetris is a great game for kids of all ages, and if your kids can’t get enough of Tetris, what better way to showcase their love than with a Tetris-themed bedroom?
Kids love to decorate and personalize their rooms. Whether they’re showcasing trophies they’ve won, or art they’ve drawn, their bedroom is a place where they can fully express themselves. Of course, sometimes decorating requires a little adult help. Which is where we come in!
You may be wondering, how can I add a bit of Tetris flair to my child’s bedroom? Well, first head over to their room and assess the situation. Think of their room like a large Tetris Matrix. Each Tetrimino has its own assigned spot, such as the bed and dresser. The rest of the Matrix is free to whatever your Tetriminos creative mind can come up with.
Finally, ask your child what they’d like to see. If they want huge Tetriminos to play with, for example, check out these awesome Tetrimino sculptures! If they’re a little too young for Tetrimino sculptures, you can always add a little Tetris flair by creating them their very own life-size Tetris pillows.
Don’t have the sewing skills to create Tetris pillows? No worries! There are various pre-made Tetris pillow designs for sale online, like the ones in our shop. On the other hand, if you consider yourself a crafting wizard, you could take things to the next level and try your hand at creating your very own Tetris furniture.
Granted, this will take you a while, but in the end your child will have a bedroom decked out in Tetris from top to bottom. Which is pretty exciting! In fact, we wish we had the chops to create Tetris furniture, as we’d have our whole house designed with Tetris in mind.
If you want to get your kids involved in a crafting project, why not teach them how to make Tetris Perler art? Perler art is a form of bead art that utilizes a pegboard to array plastic beads, and an iron to melt them together.
If they’re still not sure, you can do one yourself to show them all the steps. Then, have them hand over the pegboard when they’re done with their design so that you can safely iron it for them.
Once their Perler designs have cooled off, you can use string to hang them up from the ceiling like falling Tetriminos on a Matrix. Or, use a picture frame to show off their custom Tetris crafts.
While on the subject of frames, you could also ask your child to use their imagination and create one-of-a-kind Tetris paintings or drawings. Then, use a frame to hang their drawings up around their room. As you can see, there’s no limit to the kind of Tetris bedroom you can create.
Be sure to get your kids involved to find out how they would like to decorate their Tetris bedroom. Or if you’re creating a Tetris bedroom for younger children, make sure you incorporate age-appropriate decor. Aside from that, let your Tetris love run wild!
